Light into the Darkness by Henry Peterman

January 2022 - Light into the Darkness

About the Image(s)

This was originally taken under a "light as the subject" assignment for my local camera club. I used a Panasonic Lumix g9 camera, with a Panasonic Leica 12-60 lens, at 19mm. This was actually taken at 4:30 on a sunny afternoon. I purposely underexposed by 3 or 4 stops, and shot at f/9.0 at 1/2000th to create a film noir style photograph. Further adjustments were made in Lightroom.

I think you succeeded admirably, Henry. Very moody and even a bit cold feeling. The only possible suggestion I have would be to crop up from the bottom a little bit to minimize the amount of pure black.   Posted: 01/11/2022 14:59:03

I like the image but would like to see some detail in the very dark areas especially in the area just above the pond. Also, I wonder how the image would look if the trees were not cut off. In my revision I cropped some off the bottom and left side and also brightened the bottom areas but could not do so with the areas just above the pond.   Posted: 01/15/2022 06:05:26
