About the Image(s)

This was taken in April of 2019 at the Mesquite Dunes in Death Valley.
The shadows, shapes and textures combine to make for endless
compositions. I liked the two people who gave some sense of scale.
It was a fairly hazy morning and the colors were muted, so monochrome
seemed to work better here. Processed in Lightroom Classic, Photoshop,
Silver Efex Pro. Some selective curves and dodging and burning were also
Sony A7R III, Sony 70-200 f/2.8 GM lens. 200mm, 1/200, f/11, ISO 200,
shot handheld.

This is an excellent monochrome image. The dynamic range and location of the brights, darks and midtones on the dunes create beautiful leading lines towards the main subjects. My only suggestion is that I find the sky a little bit tight. So I made this slight adjustments by increasing the sky and reducing the background.   Posted: 09/10/2021 20:01:32

Your tonal adjustments bring out the flow of light over this varied landscape. And I like the subtle texture in the sky in Albert's suggestion. This is a beautiful image.   Posted: 09/13/2021 23:50:23

A great image and a great capture. The image is great as is but let me suggest an alternative featuring just the hikers.   Posted: 09/19/2021 17:16:39

An example of "Less is more." Without the sky, monochrome adds to this image the question "Sunlight or moonlight?"   Posted: 09/21/2021 13:30:48
