About the Image(s)

This was taken on one of the last nights of our Spain trip last May. A number of people from our tour group were up on the roof of our hotel enjoying the view when I noticed that you could get a cool reflection of the cathedral in the hotel hot tub which fortunately was not in use. I took a bunch of shots before the others figured out what I was doing. Soon, everyone had their phones out and were doing the same thing.

The other thing I noticed was the moon which, I admit, was behind me. A little Photoshop and voila! it was in the scene complete with reflection. I did cropping and the black and white conversion in Lightroom Classic along with basic exposure adjustments. I cleaned up noise in DxO Pure RAW, then took the image into Photoshop where I composited in the moon and extended the bottom of the frame a bit.

Sony A7R V, Tamron 28-200 lens. ISO 6400, 33mm, f/13, f/20 second. Shot with the camera resting on the edge of the hot tub.

That's a neat trick! (Maybe it could be reproduced with a portable basin?) Now that I know it's a hot tub I notice the rim but otherwise wouldn't have guessed. So wondering whether the rim could be seamlessly eliminated or retouched on the right side.   Posted: 10/16/2024 22:11:00

What a remarkable image. And how clever to think of using the hot tub pool reflection to capture the scene. And the addition of a moon is great. A wonderful mage. I have suggestions.   Posted: 10/22/2024 11:19:19
