About the Image(s)
This picture of a stone carving on a pillar at the entry of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was taken in April 2011 with a Nikon D90 camera and 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 lens. Post processing to monotone was done with Nik Silver Efex, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom adjustments.

Christian, a very nice image. My suggestion is to increase both the brightness and contrast which I have done in my revision.
Christian has informed me that because of new interests and priorities in his life he is leaving our mono group. His October image will be his last. He has been a great contributor with many wonderful images. We will miss him.

I'll still drop by on occasion to get some inspiration.
I suppose the exposure could be lowered a bit. This is a more documentary rendering if you compare to the original color image. This was hand-held but it looks perpendicular, probably because it was shot at a distance. I was immediately struck by how shocking the white border came out when I first saw it posted. That needs correcting. And it's also not the same spacing on the right and left side...   Posted: 10/18/2024 23:54:41

The processing of this image gives it a very strong 3D feel. With Jim's version, it's even stronger! I have nothing to add to what Jim has already said. It's a very nice image.
Sorry to hear you're leaving us, Christian. You've been a great contributor of images and critiques. You'll be missed.   Posted: 10/22/2024 05:47:19
