No Trespassing by Doug Wolters

October 2021 - No Trespassing

About the Image(s)

Shot with the Olympus E-M1 Mark II, 1/4000 sec. at f / 4.0, Olympus 12-100 F4 lens, ISO 4000.
This is an image from a fantastic trip I took a couple years ago out west. This image had a lot going against it. I just got the camera back from Olympus; I did not realize factory setting was a mid- size JPEG. Alas, I shot all day thus, and not in RAW. It was shot from the bus, at a very high ISO for Olympus. I took it into AI Gigapixels to beef it up, converted to B&W in LR, took it to Silver Effects Pro, to PS to lesson the effect, back to LR & increased the contrast. Do you think it works as a black & white?

I like the image, especially the sign that says "No soliciting" etc. Adds humor for sure.
I'm curious to know what the colors were like on the rocks; were the colors red and vibrant, or sort of dull and uninteresting? If they were the latter, I think making it black and white was probably a good idea. You did a lot of work on the image, good job.
BTW I went to AFRICA and shot all my shots for 17 days on Medium format (new camera) -- that's a hard lesson to learn, isn't it?   Posted: 10/11/2021 16:36:35

I would prefer the color version knowing this area of the colors they offer. Nice shot for how you had to do it.   Posted: 10/12/2021 10:59:50
