Iris by Diana Duffey

June 2021 - Iris

About the Image(s)

How I Did It: Took this image inside. Used my Sony7R3 with the 90mm Macro.
My camera settings were: ISO 100, 90mm, F3.5, SS1/100. I used a tripod and a constant light.
I did minor adjustments in Lightroom and took it into Photoshop. I cropped the image because the printed background that I used did not aligned with the flower correctly. I took the image into Topaz and applied AI Clear and applied a Look. Did a Levels Adjustment in PS and
applied a light vignette, using Nik.

This iris is from my garden. I took several images using different apertures, but I liked this
one. Your comments are always appreciated.

Diana, it's really nicely exposed and the colors are great. I think I would have used a higher F-stop to get more of it in focus; it looks "soft" to me. I'd like to see sharper edges on the petals. Another lovely flower image !   Posted: 06/12/2021 22:12:42

I love the background colors and the textured feel of the image. The problem with the focus is that the lightest part of the image is out of focus -- and that is where my eye goes. Also, for my tastes, it's too close to the edges. Content aware to expand the photo?   Posted: 06/14/2021 11:13:56

Nice image. It appears to be soft but that may be just me. The petal in the center with the multiple colors is really nice. Did all the post processing change the image that much?   Posted: 06/15/2021 11:40:58
