Tulip Bowl by Doug Wolters

May 2021 - Tulip Bowl

About the Image(s)

This was shot using my Lensbaby Circular Fisheye. A 5.8mm lens! It can focus incredibly close -- it was inside the flower. I love the effect of the lens barrel recorded outside of the image. Shot with my Canon 5D Mark III, 1.6 sec. ISO 200.

Very interesting. I had a fisheye years ago and enjoyed using it but I updated my camera and never got around to adding a fisheye. I recently began playing with orbs and love it. This one is really very well done. Love the colors, the framing, overall a winner for me.   Posted: 05/07/2021 20:16:15

I've never seen this kind of image before; amazing that you were inside the flower ! Quite fascinating. Very nice.   Posted: 05/11/2021 20:42:18

A unique image created with an unusual lens! Its general symmetry and circular border remind me of a view through a kaleidoscope. Yet it retains the basic features of the flower. Well-done!   Posted: 05/23/2021 14:16:09

A very different flower image. It is really sharp and interesting. What were the reflections on the outside from. The lens?   Posted: 05/24/2021 13:49:28

Yes, my understanding is that the lens picks up the inside of the lens barrel. I still don't believe how close it can focus. Wish I could get that lens for Olympus, since I use Olympus outside of the house.   Posted: 05/26/2021 16:10:57
