Long-Horned Sheep by Sandra Irwin

January 2022 - Long-Horned Sheep

About the Image(s)

This was taken in Borrego Springs on a hike to the oasis. The sheep were at a substantial distance from the trail -- about 1/2 the length of a football field. Amazingly, I took it with my iphone 8. All I did was crop.

It is a nice image out of an Iphone. Looks like a sunny day and nothing blown out of the highlights. If you had move a bit to the right the grass would not have covered his nose.   Posted: 01/08/2022 16:58:50

Ahhh... Cell phones. Some people are not complimentary about the photos we make with them but I do not agree. You did well. In a perfect world I would prefer that the grasses in front of the sheep would not be out of focus. Windy? The rock in the left corner of the image is in good focus.

Anyone interested in what cell phones can accomplish view Jerry Hug's images in Group #51. He is an excellent photographer and teaches regarding cell phones. Snapseed is one of the apps he uses.   Posted: 01/09/2022 11:29:59

A nice image that I am assuming you would not have got unless you used your cell phone. I am curious as to why the grasses in front of the sheet are so out of focus. If you were using a regular camera I don't think that would be the case.   Posted: 01/17/2022 12:34:58

the grass does not bother too me much. the face of the subject is in deep shadow and the body of the subject is the brightest object in the image.   Posted: 01/17/2022 12:42:05
