About the Image(s)

Had an opportunity to photograph bats recently. Everybody had to wear a mask so we wouldn't get them sick which I thought was interesting. I used the new masking feature in LR to select the subject, inverted it and darken the background a good bit. I went into PS to due the cleanup portion which I got rid of anything I found distracting. Also interesting to me was so many of the bats were sleeping in the sun. Guess they like warm more than they dislike light!

Fascinating photo! His "sleeping gear" is really interesting. His head looks almost like a cat's. Love what you did in post processing!   Posted: 11/10/2021 18:18:37

Thanks! Some of the bats were really cute but I don't know enough to tell you what kind.   Posted: 11/17/2021 09:55:14

The shadows really capture my attention. Good choice to remove the background clutter. Color of the head is wonderful

The background to me was a horrible distraction so it had to go. I love photographing these characters but their environment isn't very photogenic.   Posted: 11/17/2021 09:56:56

Good thing you told me what it was. The background definitely need to be removed. Could some more of the shadowing be removed from the bat's face?   Posted: 11/17/2021 11:07:29

His little face is mostly tucked into the wing but I might be able to give it a little more exposure.   Posted: 11/17/2021 11:15:21

You have done an admirable job of photographing this bat. I have tried unsuccessfully to get a similar shot at Disneyworld's Animal Kingdom. I generally don't admire black backgrounds, so I would like to see perhaps a muted one that shows some of the bat's home.   Posted: 11/19/2021 10:28:46

Nice job....I wouldn't have recognized the subject as a bat. You brightened up his sleeping quarters nicely. And removed all the distractions.   Posted: 11/20/2021 14:54:02

I feel you did a very good editing job. The original backgroud was just to busy.   Posted: 11/25/2021 17:41:38
