About the Image(s)

This is a close up of a series of cracks and discolorations in a Century Plant (Agave Americana) taken with my Canon EOS Mark IV, Canon 50 mm Macro lens, ISO 100, 50 mm, f/5.0, 1/125 sec. The original is included because I thought it would help to understand what the main photo is. I took the original with my iphone just today, but there were more cracks and fissures in the plant in the month of January when I took the close up. These plants can stand as tall or taller than a small adult. They are located just outside the East entrance to the Huntington Library, San Marino, CA. I didn't do anything in post processing at all, as I thought it would be more interesting to see it "as was"!

interesting closeup. looking at the original, I couldn't tell where you got the closeup from. colors are of interest. Enhance a bit?   Posted: 10/12/2021 11:58:51

This is a nicely detailed abstract with good color tones   Posted: 10/14/2021 14:47:46

If you had not included the original, I would Never have guessed what this was. I think this made for a really nice macro shot. It makes a very nice abstract. I thought there my have been water in some sort of pot but just a very different view of a plant. Well done!   Posted: 10/19/2021 18:15:38

Your closeup is certainly more interesting than your original of the whole plant. I think I might try adjusting levels etc. to see if one could add more pop to the closeup. I would also try cropping in from the right to just concentrate on the cracks in the century plant.   Posted: 10/26/2021 10:45:33

Welcome to Group 9 and your interesting abstract. It's generally a surprise to find out what the origin of an abstract image is. This time for sure. I like the soft colors against the harsh textured top of the plant. I see good detail and contrast.   Posted: 10/26/2021 12:06:33
