Fishermen's Rope by Marcus Miller

November 2023 - Fishermen's Rope

About the Image(s)

The fishermen's gear was laid out in an organized way, all over the compound but everyone had gone home for lunch. The gates were open, so I took the opportunity to photograph everything in sight.
ISO100, 50mm, f6.3, s320.

The colors of these lines are very attractive.
I shoot a lot of images of ropes, as I am a knotting hobbyist. You might like to try shots of knots or ends of lines.   Posted: 11/14/2023 06:07:39

HI Steve
Thanks for your comments. I agree frayed ends and a bunch of knots can made an interesting composition.   Posted: 11/14/2023 14:54:48

nice colors and shapes. I find my eye traveling around the image following the lines. Because my eyes are traveling the image, I find that the out of focus elements are distracting. I think it might have been better to make sure everything in the image was sharp.   Posted: 11/15/2023 03:15:47

Although it is all about the lines formed by the ropes, I wonder if a focal point would have enhanced the image - e.g. a rope that wasn't red or blue?   Posted: 11/20/2023 20:28:33

What a tangle! Nice complement of colours - blue in the foreground, pink in the background. Yes, a focal point might help... but then it would be an entirely different image.   Posted: 11/24/2023 17:57:32

Nice Colors and shapes. Focus on the top of the photo is slightly soft. Like the colors choice of the background. Maybe F10/f11 would have helped better...though it is best to try out. Objective is to get the whole frame in focus.   Posted: 11/26/2023 00:03:24
