June 2022 - ABANDONED

About the Image(s)

Last month I came across this old house which is on the verge of collapse. It was a dull overcast morning.
In LR and PS, I made adjustments to open up the dark windows, change the sky and ended with a B/W image.

HI Ian
Thanks for your generous comments. This house was a great find and we were able to photograph it from all sides. It was a dull, overcast day so the shadows were not too intrusive. Marcus   Posted: 06/13/2022 19:53:35

Hi Marcus,
Great shot. Old houses have so much character even if they are neglected and abandoned. I love the lines, shapes, and texture on the house. The bare branches and overgrown grass add to the story. Your choice of black and white perfectly suits the sad mood. Nicely done.

HI Barbara
Thanks for your great feedback. I love trying to show that old buildings still have some form of life. Marcus   Posted: 06/14/2022 18:44:17

Nice Image. Well composed. Great work. For the image is a little on the softer side. I think it should take a position either little more soft or sharper.
The tones are very good and it is beautiful.   Posted: 06/17/2022 08:02:39

HI Pinaki, thanks for your comments on softer vs sharper. Here's another view of the house which has increased clarity. for me either way is very effective, thx. Marcus   Posted: 06/17/2022 11:07:51

There are times when monochrome is a hands down winner. This is one of those times.   Posted: 06/17/2022 13:39:30

This is indeed a great find, and you have done an excellent treatment of it. I like both versions; they capture the mood perfectly.   Posted: 06/21/2022 10:54:01

Nicely composed, great use of the technical tools to make it look older, maybe even haunted.   Posted: 06/21/2022 18:33:53
