Venice Carnivale Pair by Marcus Miller

September 2021 - Venice Carnivale Pair

About the Image(s)

I reached back in my archives for this image from Venice Carnivale. It was taken on March 1, 2014. I wonder when we'll get back to travelling again and capturing images from exotic locals.
This is a street image taken at 7:30 am, and I selected this image because of the juxtaposition of the ladies with the couple in the statuary. In LR, I tinted the background slightly and made a minor crop.

One beautiful image ! I like the juxtaposition of the two live subjects against the carved ones.

Might try a version with the background in more of a contrasting opposed to the 'pink'   Posted: 09/07/2021 19:01:38

I like the reading of our group mate Mr. Mark Southard regarding the juxtaposition. But I feel the pink tone of image might need to be revisited.   Posted: 09/13/2021 00:32:57

Love the image. Brings out the flamboyance of Venice. I do prefer the washed out pink color of the image as it sets the mood. Also the tinted color brings out a rhythm between dominant red and maroon's of the foreground with that of the background.   Posted: 09/14/2021 16:02:49

No problem for me with the pink background although I might have darkened the lighter area above the cornice. The figures are really well taken. Nice image.   Posted: 09/23/2021 14:28:30

I like the rich color of the costumes against the paleness of the faces and background. I read this as almost a monochrome image, with the maroon, red, gold and pink being different shades of the same colour. And it is almost as if the two statues in the background are observing and talking about the masked revelers in the foreground.   Posted: 09/25/2021 13:08:55
