Reflections of El Capitan in Fall by Barbara Mallon

November 2023 - Reflections of El Capitan in Fall

About the Image(s)

I took 3 day-vacation from my husband with dementia to Yosemite. This is El Capitan early in the morning. I got a new iPhone 25 pro max just before the trip. This is with the widest angle. Unfortunately it is jpeg because I forgot to activate raw. I will try the raw later. Very little was done to the photo. I am amazed!

So sorry to hear about your husband -- dementia is a terrible disease. You captured a beautiful image. The mountain top in sunlight, the perfect reflection and the composition. The depth of field to have the green plant in the foreground sharp as well as the distant items is excellent. The colors are great -- I would not change a thing. It could be a print on your wall.   Posted: 11/11/2023 13:35:27

This is a beautiful image. Maybe a few tweaks in RAW could give a bit more 'punch', especially to the dark green areas. But lovely as it is.   Posted: 11/15/2023 05:00:27

It is nice to see a photo that has not been much processed. As Judith mentioned, a few processing of the raw photo would have given it more 'punch'. However, as it is, it is a nice shot. The sharpness and colours are fine.   Posted: 11/16/2023 10:32:08

Your attention is on the lower half and there is a lot to take in. The crystal-clear water of the Merced River, the reflections of the leaves, the beautiful blue sky, the distant pine trees, and the granite structure beyond El Captain, and of the dominating tall green grass in the foreground corner. This against the backdrop of lighter El Capitan. Very nice image Barbara worthy of hanging.   Posted: 11/18/2023 10:01:51

Barbara,
Sorry to hear about your husbands medical issues, its terrible what happens to your body in the final years and its impact on the loved ones surrounding the individuals.

You certainly captured a nice image with your iPhone. They have come along way quickly in so many ways.
I like the reflections, the tones, the colors and the sharpness. Nice!   Posted: 11/21/2023 08:47:47
