About the Image(s)
We were walking along a pond and this one Duckling was all alone. There was a Mother Duck with a number of similar Ducklings about 100 yards away. Is it lost? No predators in sight? It was overcast and the light was perfect. Canon 1.4 extender on a Canon 100-400 mm lens. Digital Rebel 7ti.

The duckling is very sharp, and had a great reflection. The fact that he is swimming adds "life" to the image. The green around him adds interest. You have a lot of dead space around him, but that adds to your story about him being alone. You are fortunate to have so much nature around you.   Posted: 05/12/2022 16:54:48

Thank you for your comment. I entered it in the camera club and hoped the judge would do what you did. I have tried lots of cropping but yours work best for pictorial!   Posted: 05/18/2022 12:41:47

I like your image Barbara. Sharp, well composed, draws viewer's attention to your subject, is softly lit and to further gain attention, reveals motion.   Posted: 05/16/2022 16:29:36
Hi Barbara, I like the direction of motion, the catchlight in the ducklings eyes, the reflection in the water, the motion in the water behind the duckling and the general crispness of the image. I like what Stuart has done but I would have cropped a bit from the top as well and maintained your overall aspect ratio. Very nice. I have to drive miles to an artificial lake to see ducks.... As Tom said, you are lucky to live close to nature.   Posted: 05/20/2022 09:31:37
Very cute swimming duckling image. I like composition with smooth waves around the little duckling. I wouldn't do any
cropping, because the duckling swimming forward, must leave enough space on the front and not crop out any green.
Love picture!
