About the Image(s)

I was finally able to get out and replenish my inventory of photographs. I saw that it was nearly high tide and there was a storm approaching, so I headed for the Fish Pier, hoping to catch a boat either unloading or resupplying. I was lucky and found a large boat, Three Girls, unloading squid. I cropped the original image dramatically, as I wanted the catch and the sorters to be the focus of the picture. Other than the cropping, I pretty much just tweaked the brightness, highlights, and vibrance (the orange pants). I thought the image looked a tiny bit out of line, but I believe that is the boat in the background causing that.
Particulars: Nikon 780, 50mm lens, f/7.1, ISO 2500, Speed 1/1000
*It was a very dreary day, hence the high ISO

Nice final result Paul. If there was only one thing I would change would be to clone out that rope which seems to lead the viewer out of the picture.   Posted: 01/12/2022 09:51:33

Thank you. I will give that a try.   Posted: 01/12/2022 09:57:01

Your crop is very good, to get rid of all the distracting elements, but still looks sharp and not with a lot of noise. You can tell from your original image and the building in the background that the image is level. The rope does not bother me, but if some might think that it is a distraction, it should be fairly easy to remove.   Posted: 01/12/2022 11:12:34

Like the workers in action. You did a great job off cleaning up the photo. Why not rubber stamp out the letters on the boat as well? I am suggesting trying some topaz filters to correct noise. I think you can have a free trial! I use sharpener pro and denoise. They both do the same thing it sometimes one is better.   Posted: 01/13/2022 17:48:01

Good cropping, you crop out a most importing content of worker in working and get rid of all mess stuff. I would get rid of the rope to make area cleaner.   Posted: 01/17/2022 14:57:42

You're in close cropping was essential to focus on what was the real image. The viewer's eyes are drawn right to the ice and the unsorted catch. Also catching is the strong contrast between the worker's blue shirts and their orange overalls. One small point, Paul, looing back could one have lowered the shutter speed to 1/250 and bring the iso down?   Posted: 01/20/2022 13:16:10
