About the Image(s)

I just finished this series at 1:30 am midnight... Brydi at OzDay10k Wheelchair Race. I have take it on 26 January 2020 Australia day - The OzDay10k Wheelchair Race. I have included the original one and PS work series. Brydi was 9 years old Aboriginal girl with wheel chair. The competition made her more confident for her life.

You captured Brydi at a great moment. You captured her looking up, and that is not what I have seen at these events -- most of the racers are looking down. I like the crowd, as it shows that this was an event. Both the color are and monochrome are good,   Posted: 07/13/2021 16:20:49

Personally I more like the last monochrome. It is showing
speed and have my eyes focus in the racer's face. compare the color one with spectators in the stands, they are distracting me on the racer, who is major object in this image. Of course it tells the whole story.

Wow! I hope you sent her the photo! I wasn't sure if these are handicapped kids or any kid that chose to be in it. I was surprised that an aboriginal child would be so light skinned. Your handling of the moment is superb. The excitement, Intent look on her face, and the feeling of motion are superb! I like the color image.   Posted: 07/16/2021 17:22:32

Thanks Barbara. I think she is third or fourth Aboriginal generation, may only have 50% or less Aboriginal part. Good idea, I will try to contact her late!   Posted: 07/16/2021 21:27:47

Grace, I too favor the Monochrome Closer as the racer's face is isolated, not lost among the crowd. Very nice.   Posted: 07/18/2021 14:36:06

I think both are remarkable images. I agree wih Tom, it is rare to capture a photo like this with the participants looking forward. The emotional and physical aspects of the picture are very strong. I like both but in the end I gravitated to the color image. I think the inclusion of the blurred crowd gives a sense of time, p[lace, and significance to the image.   Posted: 07/24/2021 13:33:16
