Annas Male Hummingbird feeds on Agapanthas by Barbara Mallon

July 2021 - Annas Male Hummingbird feeds on Agapanthas

About the Image(s)

I caught this hummingbird on my agapanthas. I did not do anything but crop, adjust the exposure and burn the light flowers and brighten the hummingbird. It was a lucky shot! Canon digital rebel 7ti, 400 mm L canon lens, ISO 800, f-5.6.

Wow. Brilliant image. Super action shot. Talk about timing and your readiness with the camera. Super. Please let me know how you managed that black background. Usually backgrounds distract but here it leaves us to concentrate on the two subject matters.   Posted: 07/05/2021 11:24:15

I agree. It is a brilliant image, and the black background is perfect. The level of detail is wonderful and the blurred wings give it a sense of energy.   Posted: 07/08/2021 11:20:37

You caught the hummingbird at the perfect moment. I like that you can see the tip of the beak, and the eye has a catch light. This is a very striking image, and wing blur adds "life". The dark background if very effective.   Posted: 07/13/2021 16:08:31

The hummingbird is very sharp and clear. I like the blurred wing, it showing the action.

Genuinely nice capture Barbara. Wow! Grabs one's attention, as you scan your image for more interesting detail. Complimentary colors and technical factors are fine. Like the blurred wing and the catch light.   Posted: 07/17/2021 17:12:54
