About the Image(s)

I like the abstract quality of this image. It was shot about 9 am in June without a tripod. I used a shallow depth of field and cropped it in a square format. Post processing was done in Lightroom.

Camera: Nikon Z6 with Nikon 60mm Micro lens
Settings: ISO 64 f/ 3.3 1/250 sec

What a kaleidoscope of colors! Shooting flowers with a very shallow depth of field calls the viewers eye to the area that's in sharpest focus while the rest of the image fades in the background. In this image, the leaves with their tiny hairs appears to be the subject. I do like the positioning of the bud, however, I feel the background overpowers the bud. Maybe consider desaturating it a bit and darkening it to give some separation to the bud.   Posted: 11/10/2023 06:16:04

Thanks Karen that's an excellent suggestion. I'll try it.   Posted: 11/21/2023 16:08:07

I love all the colors in this. You did a good job getting all the little hairs in focus and I like the angle. I too think the background especially around the bottom of the image could be toned down a little. Nice!   Posted: 11/13/2023 12:24:48

Happy Thanksgiving, Doris! I think this is a vibrant abstract and so creative!
The skillful DoF manipulation adds interest for me. Thanks for sharing this one.   Posted: 11/23/2023 17:28:53

WOW! Talk about DOF to peak one's interest. My initial thought is to engage focus stacking to the entire image. But at the same time knowing that the sharpness of the foreground and background would ruin the overall mystique of the image. The lightning, the DOF, and the range of colors maximize the overall impact of the image. Although, I can't help but wonder what focal stacking just the image in the foreground would look like. Very nice image!   Posted: 11/23/2023 20:46:37
