About the Image(s)

It is grape season in Northern California and found these grape vines running along a rustic fence at a local French restaurant.

It was shot with a Sony A7iii with a 55mm 1.8 Zeus lens. It was a somewhat overcast morning and used an ISO of 400. The aperture was set at f/5.6 in Aperture mode which resulted in a 1/125 s exposure.

I did a small amount of processing and changed the angle so the fence was not perfectly horizontal. I also did some small erasures so the image would be less busy. I would appreciate knowing more about how to process this properly in Camera Raw or Lightroom Classic. I did start with a raw image, shooting both raw and jpeg.

Hi, Ally.
You captured the grapes deliciously! Very sharp and colorful. I tried a crop at the top to remove some of the distracting area which lets the eye focus more on the grapes. Perhaps the dark area on the upper right side could be worked on also.
I do like the leaves at the bottom. You might have even included more of them.

Thank you. I will go back to the original and crop at the top and add more of the leaf!   Posted: 09/09/2021 08:52:21

I am so glad you have more of the leaves to work with. Often it pays to include a bit more when you take the shot as it gives you more to work with.
Please post what you come up with. Anxious to see it.

Hi, Ally. I am the Administrator Advisor for the Digital Dialog study groups and try to visit as many groups and comment on as many images as I can each month. Your image is lovely and I really have no suggestions for improvement other than what you already have done
However, I do want to commend you on the information you provided with the image. That is truly what the study groups are all about and I take every opportunity to encourage all of our members to do likewise. Welcome to Digital Dialog I wish you the best and am confident you will benefit tremendously as long as you continue submitting this kind of work and accompanying data.   Posted: 09/11/2021 19:11:59

Hello Ally, I liked the first image you presented with a well out-of-focus background.
The revised version you showed, also, is a good picture. However, I would be tempted to suggest to you to erase the upper right dark area which seems to be the edge of a window. It makes to background less distracting (see my modifications)
The green leaves are balancing very well with the grapes and well in focus.   Posted: 09/15/2021 14:12:02

Hi Ally.
I agree with Georges on this one. I didn't care for the dark area in the upper right corner.   Posted: 09/15/2021 15:23:07
