About the Image(s)

Another egg! As in the May submission just a straight shot so no B4 image, lit with two ordinary 40w household bulbs, one on each side of the setup. Finished with a small stroke and High Pass. As Mark pointed out in the May image I would like to have had the plate a little more white but couldn't do it without changing the egg and the chives

Do you keep hens Barbara? Whilst this is good, for me it doesn't have the same impact as last month's. Its a shame you didn't show this first. Below is a copy in which I used a brightness-contrast layer and masked the egg. I also increased the yellow saturation of the egg.   Posted: 06/01/2021 12:05:16

No hens David, but the freshness of a newly laid egg would be delightful. Your improvement is well done. Thanks.   Posted: 06/01/2021 14:16:42

I love the simplicity of this image which is a nice take on a more traditional still life. I wonder if it is slightly tilting off to the left - I think I would possibly rotate it back to the right very slightly. I think also a little bit more background under the plate would give balance to the black at the top so that the plate is more centered vertically in the frame.   Posted: 06/02/2021 10:09:36

Barbara, I like your new egg picture. It is well composed and well lit. The only thing that I would like to see is more of the chives. My eye keeps looking for them.   Posted: 06/02/2021 15:50:31

I love this image........excellent composition! but for eating , it is a bit on the 'rare' side !!!   Posted: 06/04/2021 13:32:00

Very nice simple geometric image; the elliptical shape of the dish, the elliptical shape of the egg white, and the shape of the yoke broken up by the chives. David's edit was exactly what was needed.   Posted: 06/05/2021 16:48:36

As I don't eat eggs because I can't tolerate the taste of eggs alone, I wouldn't consider creating something like this, but it certainly makes an inviting image. Everything here is right on! Well done.   Posted: 06/17/2021 05:51:04
