About the Image(s)

The original was a reflection of tree branches in a river as sunset was approaching.

Editing was mainly cropping, warming the colors, and increasing the exposure. I experimented a lot with different color temperatures, as I wasn't achieving the soft, contrasty feel for which I was searching.

Abstract reflections are one of my favorite subjects. There are so many ways one can go with this that I won't make a recommendation. The artist has to follow his own vision and I respect and like and respect yours. This is the kind of image that I process in Topaz Studio just for the fun of seeing all of the variations.   Posted: 05/05/2021 21:21:44

Freddie a lovely blend of the colour purple. But unlike Mark, I have to confess I am not a devotee of most abstracts. I realise abstracts are well recognised and of artistic merit but I cannot comment intelligently on them; I am sure other members will be more forthcoming.   Posted: 05/06/2021 12:53:53

Barbara, I fully realize abstracts are not everyone's cup of tea. This one is weirder than most, and more experimental than I usually attempt. I enjoy pushing the boundaries!   Posted: 05/06/2021 22:16:01

You certainly have an eye for abstracts and I have enjoyed looking at your previous submission; however, I feel there is too much lavender (purple) in this one. Your other submissions have had more color. This image is rather cold, but this may have been what you wanted to convey to the viewer - the cold of the approaching winter.   Posted: 05/08/2021 11:37:13

Freddie, this is a very nice abstract. I think that you have cropped it just right. I would have liked to see a blue color instead of lavender.   Posted: 05/08/2021 12:29:34

Richard and Nick,
I think you are both right in that blue would have been a better choice for the dominant color. Lavender or purple seems to be my default color, and I need to get away from them more often!   Posted: 05/09/2021 21:53:55

I am also one does not favour abstract images but my wife thinks this is really good. My brain is not wired this way and I do not have your creativity. I agree with Nick about the blue colour. If you look at page 22 in current PSA journal there is an image "Braided River", which to me is not as good yours.   Posted: 05/11/2021 05:09:34
