About the Image(s)

Tokyo, Japan, August 2021

I just loved the angles of the side-by-side elevators, and the yellow suitcase on the right matched with the yellow on the steps and the bottom of the left elevator.

Apple iPhone XS Max, ISO 320, 1/50 sec, f/1.8, 4.25mm

Edited in Lightroom, Auto White Balance, brought down highlights, opened up shadows, dehaze

Lisa, I love this image. The shiny pollished metals and the brilliant yellow and blue colors. Everything is very sharp but this is not why I like it. It portrays motion. I feel like I tripped on the first step and am falling headlong down the left side steps of the escalator. Very good image and super insight!   Posted: 10/08/2021 12:41:10

Lisa, great image and from a non conventional vantage point. Most likely shooting by instinct with not much preplanning. The vantage point creates tension, and the juxtaposition of the different stairs creates a complex image. I just straightened the verticals the best I could without amputating the person with the yellow suitcase. The reflections complement the image.   Posted: 10/09/2021 16:24:37

Lisa, this is a fabulous image in my opinion!!! It almost gave me vertigo when I first looked at it. The leading lines! The colors! The exposure! The composition! The reflections! Awesome job!   Posted: 10/10/2021 17:15:51

Lisa, I love your shot that combined opposite escalators with different diagonal lines and angles. The reflection of the stainless steel makes me feel that they are very clean, and the bright orange color at the end is also beautiful. The passenger with the yellow suitcase on the right also complements the scene. People seems to be bottleneck at the end of the escalator. Fewer people there would be more perfect, but I know that it's hard to achieve in this case.
The interesting point that the person with the yellow suitcase is going up but his/her body seems like he/she is going down the escalator. Your image challenges the viewers in many ways. It's a great image!   Posted: 10/11/2021 23:41:34

Lisa,
This is a great image with the motion, the lines, and the yellow and blue colors on both escalators. I do like the edit that Isaac did in straightening it a bit. Otherwise I found myself looking from side to side. I think his edit helped with that. This is a great scene and tells the story of travel. Very nice.   Posted: 10/15/2021 17:24:32
