About the Image(s)

SO…..I was hard up for a picture and decided to just play with this crescent moon. It was taken from our deck when the moon was very low over the water in October. It set early at sunset time and color was amazing. I wish I had my long lens on but shot with 28-300 lens at 300mm, f/5.6, 1/30 sec, ISO 800, manual mode. It was hand-held but braced against post. The lights in the original are cell towers. Ran through Topaz to sharpen, cropped in Lightroom, and then added the crazy filter in Topaz. I don’t expect a real critique since this was just for fun.

Hey this is a fun photo.
I like the addition of the light colours in the top left corner to balance the moon.
The purists would probably worry that the dark side of the moon should be lit, but you could always argue that that is why it is called the dark side of the moon!
Great fun image.   Posted: 02/01/2024 01:09:49

Yes, Martin, I knew the light was in the wrong direction but was too lazy to try to figure how to change it. It wasn't realism anyhow!   Posted: 02/02/2024 18:37:31

Fascinating play with light and color. I think the original moon is closer to reality and less like a flying banana or tropical fruit, but you have balanced the image well. Is that Saturn in the lower left of the original? The title could be changed to "A Lunar Perspective" perhaps.   Posted: 02/02/2024 18:33:44

No, the extra little lights were cell towers. Just wanted to do something with it, and since there were no stars..........   Posted: 02/02/2024 18:38:48

Its strange how the moon presents itself in different parts of the world . our crescent moon is straight up vertical, and, less interesting I feel. I like the waves of light coming in from the left   Posted: 02/18/2024 11:18:49
