Sutherland Falls B.C. by David Robb

May 2023 - Sutherland Falls B.C.

About the Image(s)

Nikon D750, iso/800, 44mm, f/10, 1/400.

The falls were the highlight of the hike on this overcast, cold day and definitely a flat light event. I used the clarity filter to boost the color in the rock and definition in the falls.

Quite an icefall. All you need to make it really stand out is an adventurer climbing the ice. The color contrast is nice. It is difficult to figure out the size and depth of the main icefall. Nice subject.   Posted: 05/13/2023 16:47:00

Reminds me of the Adirondack Mountains in New York State. Good job with the clarity filter; it could be very flat otherwise. Agree with Neal that it's hard to determine the height / depth of the icefall but even with that, it's a lovely picture.   Posted: 05/16/2023 10:38:45

That main icefall is the center of interest so maybe a vignette and a closer crop off the right side would get us into the image a bit more. Good job in bringing out detail in the frozen falls.   Posted: 05/18/2023 08:29:14

Very good image of the frozen falls. I might try to bring out more detail in the snow in the foreground as well as even more color in the ice. A vignette would pull the eye away from the lighter rocks on the right side.   Posted: 05/18/2023 17:23:07

I like your photo with the color, definition, detail, more pop.   Posted: 05/23/2023 21:31:03

Wow! ..., it looks like a painting. Very nice frozen falls! I would like to reduce the slight highlight in the foreground's snow.   Posted: 05/25/2023 03:18:46
