Fly Over by David Robb

January 2022 - Fly Over

About the Image(s)

Iso/1400, 122mm, f/7.1, 1/1250.

Fly over as the Geese were flying in off the sound, thousands, except for this gaggle which took a wide route before landing in the field to the right of this photo. What I like about this photo is perspective and size of the geese in relation to the farm land and sky. I also saw them coming and wanted to capture the geese underneath the cloud. Used Linear and Radial gradient to under expose the cloud and farm.

That's a spectacular image with a lot of interest. The color contrasts are perfect. Could you lighten the trees behind the barns perhaps by some directed color dodging with green.   Posted: 01/07/2022 12:57:40

Thanks Neal!
That is a good idea on the trees. The low clouds took care of the foothills farther back.   Posted: 01/08/2022 22:40:37

This breaks lot of "rules" but it works and has a high interest level for me. There is no way to know those lights are geese and I say that after recently seeing a demonstration of drones with lights programmed to make a Christmas tree in the sky. So at first I thought I was seeing some sort of animal stretched out and running. Am I crazy?   Posted: 01/12/2022 06:49:53
