Panamanian Tamarin by Joey Johnson

January 2022 - Panamanian Tamarin

About the Image(s)

While on a cruise through the Panama Canal, I took a small boat excursion around Gatun Lake, which was created as a part of the canal construction. There are small islands all over the lake that were hilltops before the lake was formed. Monkeys have found the islands to be a great place to live and are plentiful. This Tamarin came out to check out the tourists. Sony a7rIV, Tamron 70-180 2.8 lens, 1/500, f9, iso (set on auto) 6400. Some post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop, such as cropping and noise reduction.

Joey, what a great image. The colors, composition and interest are perfect. Don't have much to add to this outstanding image.   Posted: 01/07/2022 12:43:24

The Tamarin is checking out the visitors just like you are, reflection. Great capture. Looking at your settings f9 could of been dropped to a 2.8 or around for a bokeh background.   Posted: 01/08/2022 22:13:25

Boy is he/she checking you out! I love the face and the catchlights in the eyes. Even the feet are sharp. Fantastic shot!   Posted: 01/09/2022 16:01:16

Perfect exposure and placement of this guy.The diagonal of the tree limb makes a good balance to the Tamarin. Good detail in the hair (fur?) You could darken and blur the outer edges of the leaves.   Posted: 01/12/2022 06:40:02
