Yellow Leaf on Pavement by Dennis Hirning, FPSA, MPSA

November 2021 - Yellow Leaf on Pavement

About the Image(s)

I saw some of these leaves laying on the wet pavement and thought that I should keep walking to get my camera and walk back for them. I decided to just pick up a leaf and take it to another spot quite close to home and this was the result.

Panasonic DC-ZS70, 1/80 sec. f/8.0, ISO 640, 15mm.

I like the mix of colors on the leaf itself and the vignetting. Might have tried to tone the bright yellow on the right side of the leaf down a bit but overall a nice shot.   Posted: 11/07/2021 10:47:34

Good contrasting colors. The yellow appears too bright on my screen with little definition in the leaf. The green colors are a bit washed out. The selection of subject is good with excellent impact.   Posted: 11/07/2021 15:30:57

Definitely grabs your attention and I think more so with the color yellow.

I was thinking less sheen on the background till I read your description. Then it would be dry pavement.   Posted: 11/12/2021 15:15:18

There is a starkness and simplicity to the image and it grabs the eye. Could you bring out some detail in the leaf? That would make the image just about perfect. The leaf is well placed in the frame.   Posted: 11/13/2021 07:07:04

Eyes on the leaf! It is an excellent image of well balanced color, tonal contrast and light.

Good eye finding this leaf. I like the wet black asphalt. Well done.   Posted: 11/19/2021 09:12:34
