Yellow Island by David Robb

June 2021 - Yellow Island

About the Image(s)

Yellow Island is a Nature Conservancy park in the San Juans open noon to 4, closed sundays.
I was struggling with what to take a picture of here as it was around noon and everything was a bit washed out and no gotcha moments for myself. Then later after reviewing my photos the quiet, simplistic, nature of the island is what Yellow Island is about. Lots of wild flowers too. Though not really much pop till I used LR.

From rom what you describe as not too exciting, you created a wonderful image.

Looks like the mountain hills around here. Color is great and Indian paintbrush is well focused. I'm not bothered by the fade off of focus in the distance but would like to see it a bit darker. If the main subject is the paintbrush, a different cropping might accentuate it some.   Posted: 06/06/2021 18:00:13

Good call on the darker background.   Posted: 06/12/2021 16:30:52

Nice looking image, colorful ,sharp in front and out of focus in the rear. I feel you have two or more in the image. I would suggest you crop the image and focus on the flowers on the bottom left side.   Posted: 06/09/2021 13:53:49

I would also crop off at the back tree line. The colors are great and there are enough larger, sharp flowers up front to make a subject.   Posted: 06/13/2021 13:21:52

I'd like to visit. I would have concentrated on the paintbrush in the lower left. It's a lovely shot but my eye wanders all over; there's no real subject.   Posted: 06/17/2021 08:05:43

I love the colors and you're right about the sense of peace. I agree with other comments about cropping out the trees in the back and just make it about the flowers.   Posted: 06/17/2021 18:07:13
