About the Image(s)

This photo was taken September 9, 2019 along the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne River in Yosemite National Park. I tried to capture the turbulent water as it flowed over the rocks and the sunlight reflecting on the water. I used Lightroom “Auto” to adjust the Tone along with changing the Clarity to +10, Sharpening amount to 50 and the Masking to 50. Lastly, I adjusted the Tone Curve to lighten some of the dark areas on the left side rock. Any suggestions to improve this picture are appreciated.
Image photo data: Nikon D5300 camera with NIKKOR 55-300 lens at 140mm; 1/400 sec at f11, ISO 200, no filters, no tripod.

Thorro. The image was captured at an ideal level, just above the upper body of water. And there's a wonderful contrast between the fluid water and the solid rocks. My question is whether you think there might be too much black, depth of shadow. Some shadow adds mystery about what's been obscured. Do you think this picture might have shadow in too many places?   Posted: 04/01/2021 14:53:35

The original photo had a lot of shadows. I tried to lighten some of the rocks and crop out most of the dark areas.   Posted: 04/03/2021 12:32:21

Hi Thorro, I took the liberty and edit your photo. I cropped it a bit more on the right since the focus is the waterfall. I also adjusted the hot spots.. The water in two different places and the rocks. Just a different edit.. When I take photos of waterfalls I do a long exposure so it is a more dreamy look. If I don't have a tripod or a filter I use my cell phone and take it on live and then convert it to long exposure.   Posted: 04/15/2021 19:47:44

Agree with Jeffrey saying a good job done with the editing. My only comment is like Sophia, i find the right side a little distracting, so probably would crop out   Posted: 04/20/2021 12:58:28
