About the Image(s)

Here is my shot. As you can guess, it is from a drone I'm trying to learn.
ISO 100
1/120 sec
Taken early morning. Didn't really do that much editing, primarily increased contrast in the clouds.

I have not been exposed to many drone pictures. My first reaction is it covers to broad an area I am not sure where to look.
I do like how the green in the lower left corner and the green on the right does draw my eye through the photograph. Thanks for sharing and exposing me to this type of photo.   Posted: 10/08/2020 13:22:11

I like the way the morning light creates the coloring in the sky and I appreciate that the light forms a bright point of interest on the left and then moves across the frame softening as it goes to the right. I think the composition is good in that the bridge starts on the left, takes my eye across and up toward the right and then curves back leading me again the to interest point of the light reflecting on the clouds. To me the focus seems sharp throughout with a good depth of field.

I do wonder if the exposure could be just a bit brighter to show a little more detail in the greenery.

Over all, great job.

Very well done morning shot with your drone. I like the way the composition divides the image into parts that draws my eye sequentially through the image starting with the T pier at the bottom, then to the bridge, and finally to the far horizon at the top.   Posted: 10/14/2020 11:38:16

Jeff, what camera is housed inside the drone? And where is this place? I see similar land/waterscapes when we travel to Biloxi...but this is probably in the Carolinas. Your color, focus, exposure, depth of field are ALL spot on. I agree with Ed's comment that the shadows could be brought up, a bit, but it does not detract from the image. At first glance, my eye was drawn to the clouds. Then, my taste buds were drawn to the thought of Oysters...Scallops! Am I right?
This is a good shot for someone not yet familiar with equipment!   Posted: 10/16/2020 13:57:40

Thanks for the comments. This is beautiful Beaufort, SC. It's halfway between Savannah and Charleston. Used as a location for a number of films and known for shrimp, oysters, and crabs.

The drone is a Mavic 2 Pro with a Hasselblad 1" sensor. They are easier to use than you would imagine.   Posted: 10/16/2020 14:52:23

Very nice early morning light and interesting frame. Just curious how far from the image location where you controlling your drone? I have zero knowledge of drone photography.   Posted: 10/17/2020 09:49:28

Jeff, There is something about the convergence of the horizon line and the bridge that I really like. The early morning colour temperature with the cloud formation in the background is very striking. That said, I found the gangway and dock somewhat distracting and superfluous. I have cropped it without any further PP, à chacun son goût, n'est pas?   Posted: 10/19/2020 18:58:08
