A Piece of Hero by Marianne Barnhardt

April 2021 - A Piece of Hero

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken in New York City at the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Having family who was involved that day my visit was filled with emotion. As you walk through, or look over you see the last column of wall left standing at Ground Zero. It is signed by the recovery workers. It was the last piece to leave and the first piece to come back weighing 60 tons.

I lived on L.I. at the time and had just come into work (travel agency) and hadn't gotten to turn on the TV yet when one of my employees came in to ask if I had heard the news. I was one of the fortunate ones who lived and worked outside of the city and had no one personally involved. Condolences on your loss.

Great image.
There will never be enough reminders to be certain there is truly a NEVER AGAIN!   Posted: 04/04/2021 12:01:30

Street Photography at it best. You captured the people and the huge column in perspective to tell a story. Good work.   Posted: 04/04/2021 18:15:46

Beautiful shot that does capture a sense of emotion. The candid nature is also a good fit for the photo along with the black and white.   Posted: 04/06/2021 08:36:58

Thank you Bev, it was like it was yesterday. Thanks Chuck and Brandon. This was as an emotional day and memory. Very intense memories in this building. I am glad I was able to photograph.   Posted: 04/06/2021 17:58:42
