I took this photo at a post 2020 election protest, which occured the weekend after Election Day. The location was near the California State Capitol. Trump supporters were holding a protest against the elections results, which attracted the attention of counter protesters. The two figures in this photo faced off. I see where they stand in the photo as sort of symbolic as the man on the left was a counter protester while the one on the right was a Trump supporter. Once wears a mask while the other does not. This photo was taken quickly as they soon got into a fist fight with only seconds available to get the shot. This photo was one of several fights that occurred on that emotional day.
ISO 400, 24mm, f 3.5, and 1/100 sec.

Excellent photo! Truly a cover - photo for the times! Everything about it is excellent. How close were you?   Posted: 12/06/2020 12:16:33
Thank you Marianne! I was inches right next to them. I was using my 24-70 GM 2.8 lens and using the 24mm was necessary to get the shot. I had seconds to get some photos as this situation got ugly really quick as a brawl broke out.   Posted: 12/07/2020 07:17:41

This photo has it all. The election protest which is 1st in US history and the symbolism of the facemask during the pandemic. You really captured the moment and I admire you for you courage in taking this shot and your skill in capturing this exact moment.Great job Brandon   Posted: 12/07/2020 00:53:49

In your face!!! Great street capture and it must have been fun to do - and high adrenaline for you. A fine newsworthy street shot.   Posted: 12/07/2020 13:47:23
Thank you Chuck! It's amazing how the adrenaline really kicks in when photographing a protest.   Posted: 12/10/2020 08:33:04

I think this a great photojournalism image. It tells such a compelling story the times we are currently in. I think you did a great job capturing this and the way it is framed left and right, face mask and no face mask is quite noteworthy.   Posted: 12/07/2020 17:17:11
Thank you Lou! 2020 will be a photography year I'll never forget. I'm anticipating Inauguration Day will have a similar event.   Posted: 12/10/2020 08:34:43
