About the Image(s)

I took this image last summer at the Eastern Market in Detroit. This girl was watching a vendor make kettle corn. Camera Canon 6D, Tamron 28-300 at 127mm, f 8 at 1/125 second.

In Lightroom I cropped off part of the left side which I thought was distraction, I also toned done and de-saturated the bright orange thing in the upper right. Using the brush tool I lightened the girl's face.

I love this image it really captures the little girl beautifully. The image would benefit from the hotspot on Mum's hand being toned down a little as it is distracting. Cropping down a little from the top and the left makes it stronger I think. Great image.   Posted: 05/06/2020 02:48:02

Thanks for the comments. I agree about the hand, I didn't notice it before.   Posted: 05/06/2020 17:32:07

I like the sense of story here as this shot does a great job of capturing the moment.   Posted: 05/07/2020 19:31:12

I like the expression on the girl's face but she is looking intently at something outside the frame and that takes my eye out to the left, when it isn't being caught by the highlight on the hand behind her forehead. This is one of those times when taking a series of shots can be helpful. Hopefully one could find one with a cleaner background, and maybe one with a wider view showing the vendor or the action that has so taken the girl's attention. But then, the expression is what makes it, and that was probably a fleeting thing. Good effort.   Posted: 05/10/2020 02:19:15

Thanks for the comments Geoff. This is not an ideal shot but the girl's expression is what makes it for me. It was a very crowded market and difficult to get any images without a busy background. Unfortunately for me, capturing the vendor would have introduced even more clutter. Thanks again.   Posted: 05/10/2020 18:03:51

Lou. Nice capture! very interesting expression on her face. Shows her sense of curiosity. I like te sneak of mystery of nor knowing what got her interest. The hot spot on the arm behind her is distracting.   Posted: 05/11/2020 19:26:48

Thanks for the comments Orest. I agree the arm is distracting, unfortunately I did not really notice it until it was pointed our to me.   Posted: 05/14/2020 09:21:09
