About the Image(s)

For this month I decided to try something new. Most all my previous IR photos have been out door scenes featuring either/or/and living vegetation and skies with clouds. This month I have decided to photograph my front door handle.
I first went to the IR conversion with the 830nm filter for it's black and white strength. For this image I wish I had access to an old weathered door with a rusted handle, but it is what it is.

Canon EOS Rebel T3i with IR conversion and 830 nm filter.
EF-S 15-55,f.3.5-5.6 Macro lens.

4.0 sec. at f.8.0, ISO 100 on tripod with wireless shutter release.

Initial processing done in LR with crop and white, mid-tones and Black adjusted in Selective Color in PS. Additional processing in Silver Efex Pro. 2.

Lovely door handle and lovely black and white processing. Compositionally, I wish the lock was completely in the frame. My mind keeps wanting to straighten the lines, but that's a minor thing.   Posted: 10/17/2020 15:28:24

Thanks for your comments. As for the lines, the image is taken from a slight angle in order to see the separation of the curved handle from the door. This will cause some lines at the close end of the image to seem to lean in. Note the line in the glass pannel at the right. It is not leaning. I have my viewfinder set to show me the level on each exposure. the camera is on a tripod.   Posted: 10/17/2020 21:13:48
