Tree without leaves by Lisa Cuchara

May 2020 - Tree without leaves

About the Image(s)

I sort of cheated for this month. I have not been out since 3/23, staying safe at home. I have not taken any IR photos. I have been taking lots of photos, but all inside.

So this image was taken with my regular camera and I edited it today with Nik/DxO Color Efex and applied the IR filter. I liked the look that I achieved, so it will give me something to aspire to once we can get back out safely.

I understand your concern about going out to photograph right now. Thankfully, we live in a 55 and over gated community where everyone seems to be adjusting to social distancing. People walk and ride bicycles for exercise and will cross the street or step into the road in order to maintain the proper distance from a person walking toward them on the sidewalk. Thus, I was able to go a few block from home and photograph this months image with no one near by.
Who cares how you captured your image for this month. The image is an appealing graphic image that catches and holds my attention.   Posted: 05/06/2020 14:59:20

I copied the image to a white background and was glad to see the tree does not run off the edges. it is a striking image that I like. I would like more if there was some detail in the main tree trunks versus a uniform grey tone.   Posted: 05/13/2020 12:42:22

I agree with you about the tree trunk. Perhaps IU could have used a luminosity layer and masked that part back in. Good catch   Posted: 05/31/2020 12:01:52

I like the graphic linear aspect of this filter effect. Also that it' so quick & easy.   Posted: 05/22/2020 12:30:22
