About the Image(s)

OOC image was taken with my Nikon D90 converted to 665 nM, using a 28mm prime lens. Settings were 1/250 sec @ f/13 and ISO200

Post was done in LR and minimal. Just a conversion to B/W and adjusting the WB to 2000. I did tweak the Dehaze (shifted to +100) and the Texture and Clarity sliders to +44 and +15 respectively. Then into PS for digital matting and adding the watermark.

To me the contrast in the sky gives a nice dramatic look. The tree on the right balances the frame and stops your eye. The leading lines in the fence and the repetition of the fence posts provides a nice composition. In my opinion I'm not a fan of 'things' coming out of the corner of an image so I would recommend you experiment with a different cropping if you can for the fence board in the lower left.   Posted: 12/13/2019 20:56:21

I like the overall composition but am bothered by the black streak above the fence line on the left side of the photo which I guess is a road. In my revision I eliminated the black streak, lightened the shadows under the trees and burned in the grass areas.   Posted: 12/17/2019 21:34:51

I like your version with the black line removed.   Posted: 12/26/2019 11:09:03

In my opinion 100% Dehaze is too contrasty, too dark and doesn't match the lighting on the ground. Instead perhaps try a graduated filter on the sky reducing highlights and adjusting exposure and clarity to emphasize the atmosphere and wispy clouds. Jim's suggestions add value to the image. Nicely captured scene.   Posted: 12/18/2019 08:29:44

I agree about using dehaze liberally. Zoom into 100% and watch how dehaze can disrupt pixels.

Matt Kloskowski has a good short tutorial on dehaze https://mattk.com/dehaze-the-good-bad-and-the-ugly/   Posted: 12/26/2019 12:26:25

I like the leading line -- and it carries me all the way to the tree, and then the tree prevents me from going out of the composition, nice!

The trees are a little bit "hot" for me, seems like there is lost detail.   Posted: 12/26/2019 12:27:54
