About the Image(s)

This was taken 3 nights ago as the sun was setting. I was actually trying to photograph Mergansers on the fly and had my shutter speed at only 1/800 to get a little bit of wing blur. Other settings f10, ISO 180, 800mm.

This eagle decided to fish near where I was standing on the banks of the Mississippi to get one more fish before the end of the daylight. I was lucky to see it out of the corner of my eye in time to swing around for this image. It is one of a pair that have a nearby nest. The “dirty” feathers indicate that it has already eaten today. I cropped it in an attempt to increase the image impact, since the light is not ideal. I plan to try to improve this picture, but there is a limited amount that can be done.

So fierce! Those claws. What a great shot. Focus is great. And did I mention the claws?   Posted: 03/03/2023 19:42:45

Really like the way you've cropped the image - it portrays determination coupled with fierceness. I would suggest possibly removing or blurring the "jagged" part of the right wing at the upper edge of the image above the head, and possibly color correcting the areas that look blueish on the back of the wing. Great capture.   Posted: 03/11/2023 15:51:55
