Red Barn by Dan McKenna

November 2020 - Red Barn

About the Image(s)

Sony A7riv, Zeiss Batis 135mm, ISO 100, 1/60 sec, f11. This image was produced by blending three copies in PS (as captured, reduced 1 stop and increased 1 stop) in order to increase the dynamic range. Given the focal length (135mm) I probably should have done a three image focus stack to improve the foreground.

I like the feeling of isolation you achieve by not cropping in more tightly. The sky and ground being almost the same color adds to the feeling of isolation for me. Could you send the original (middle photo) so we can see how your technique improves the photo?   Posted: 11/05/2020 08:50:14

Hi Dan; I like the mood you captured with this photo. I don't mind the full frame of the photo or the room on the right but I am wondering if softening the edges would give it just enough to draw the eye in more - just a soft vignette darkening the edges slightly.

I really like this photo; to me it has a mysterious element to it and makes me wonder what is in the barn. Great job!   Posted: 11/21/2020 20:13:19
