Dahlias by Andrea McLaughlin

October 2020 - Dahlias

About the Image(s)

I took this photo after I went to a pick-your-own flower garden. I have always been drawn to the colors and the shape of dahlias.

Taken with a Nikon D4S ISO 400, 105mm, f/3.2.

Love your Dahlia! THe focus is precise and the color soft. If the flower had more light it I think it owuld be more compelling.   Posted: 10/10/2020 13:50:30

Hi Andrea, I really like this. The F 3.2 works well. The only change I would make is turn this into a landscape instead of portrait. To do this crop in on the top and bottom, I think the vase does not add to this photograph.   Posted: 10/11/2020 07:23:59

Hi Andrea; I like the softness of the flower colors. The blur of the vase is nice. I think I would crop the top down to the start of the big flower. Really, you could do a couple different things with this photo and it would be good. I can see a landscape and removing the vase would be just as compelling as Dan suggested.   Posted: 10/19/2020 23:52:35
