Phalaenopsis Samera by Ginny Salus

June 2020 - Phalaenopsis Samera

About the Image(s)

This is an orchid in my collection - a favorite. It is currently blooming.

The quarantine has given me more time to take care of orchids and I have taken several online courses in photography and Lightroom. It all seems to work together. I need to create a platform for orchid photography.

Canon 77D, 18-135 Canon zoom

Very nice Ginny,

You might try darkening behind the top flower. IMO it gets a bit lost with the bright background.

As an aside, I used to supervise the management of the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park and worked with many orchid species. They are great fun.   Posted: 06/09/2020 10:30:22

Ginny, Great photograph the only thing I would change is the background. Some photographers cary a substitute background with them. I tried it and failed because the board I printed it on had too much texture, Micheal Motts on Youtube can show you how to do this. Dan   Posted: 06/09/2020 12:53:09

I am in the process of creating a place on my balcony to do better orchid photography and today I ordered my first prime lens! Stay tuned!   Posted: 06/15/2020 13:34:00

Beautiful bloom and image. I to would darken the background, to make the subject pop more.   Posted: 06/09/2020 13:09:22

Very nice photo, I do like the photo with the darker background better, really makes the flowers pop!   Posted: 06/23/2020 11:41:18
