About the Image(s)

When walking threw a natural prairie taking butterfly photos I noticed this plant. What I noticed and liked about the plant was the texture and how soft it made the plant look. So I took a picture with the same setting I use a lot to take butterfly photos. Then after looking at the plant closer, I wanted to change camera setting lower ISO and slower shutter speed. When I got home to my surprise the photo with the higher shutter speed and higher ISO looked much better. Why it looked so much better is because the slower shutter speed and lower ISO let in too much light in the background and made the plant darker. Camera Sony A7 R4- Lens 100-400mm with 1.4 teleconverter hand held. ISO 1600 - F13 - 1/2000 sec. Processing in Lightroom. WB. - auto. Exposure - +1.89. Contrast - +6. Highlights - 76. Shadows - +31. Whites - +50. Blacks - -21. Texture - +10. Clarity - +28. Vibrance - +15. Saturation - -21. Color Luminance Yellow - -33. Green - -27. Sharpening 40. Noise Reduction 37. Post - Crop Vignetting -18.

I love the soft eerie feeling of this photo. It is clear and precise while being soft and ethereal. Love it! Could you send us the one with the lower ISO so we can see the difference?   Posted: 05/10/2020 09:48:22

Beautiful textures and colors. I like the one with higher ISO better.

I like the subject and composition, but for me the image lacks contrast and obviously that may what you were striving to achieve. Perhaps selecting and masking the subject and then darkening the background might make the subject stand out a little more.   Posted: 05/16/2020 15:49:34

I too like contrast but in this photo I am not bothered by the lack of contrast - in fact I think that is what makes the photo very interesting.   Posted: 05/22/2020 13:27:12
