Starry Night by Andrea McLaughlin

November 2019 - Starry Night

About the Image(s)

I have been practicing shooting star trails, and this was a recent one that I was very happy with. I made some edits using Snap Seed, primary darkening the sky.

Lovely composition. How do you get the star trails (what was the exposure time?), but not a blurry tree?   Posted: 11/04/2019 19:23:54

Stephen, this photo was taken on a very clear and still night. Exposure time was about 25 minutes. ISO 200 24mm f/4.5.   Posted: 11/12/2019 11:51:41

I had to be a very still night for the tree to be in focus for so long! The tree being in the shot, for me, grounds the photo and makes it real.   Posted: 11/12/2019 15:41:45

This photo really draws me into it, people will look at it for a long time which is the mark of a great photograph. I see you improving every month and you are going to be an even better photographer!   Posted: 11/12/2019 18:22:18

I love your image.. I do like the way that you managed to keep the tree in focus and the star trails are awesome. I have been thinking about giving something like this a try. Thanks for sharing your method.   Posted: 11/22/2019 19:31:54
