Full Blue Moon by Margaret Frazer

November 2020 - Full Blue Moon

About the Image(s)

I've tried to photograph the full moon numerous times this year but it always seems to be cloudy on the nights of full moons. Luckily there was a break in the clouds during this Blue Moon.
Canon 5D Mark 1V with Sigma 150-600 lens ISO 100 F11 1/125 sec Manual Focus at Infinity During processing I did add a slight blue colour and used Topaz A1 Sharpening.

First of all, Apologies for not being able to post it ahead of time.

This is an awesome shot, can you share your planning and the process ? Appreciate your patience and planning in getting the right color and clarity.
May be its the pixels at my end, but is it bit too sharpened ?   Posted: 11/21/2020 08:59:21

Thank you Dhananjay. I do need more practice with Topaz A1 for sharpening. It was the first time I used it.   Posted: 11/26/2020 08:50:54

A very nice moon shot Margaret. I do see a slight halo on the edges which may be to over-sharpening. In Lightroom, be sure the " lens calibration" panel is set to reduce chromatic aberration.   Posted: 11/22/2020 09:58:09

Thanks Glen. I did take your advice on "lens calibration" but I didn't notice much of a difference. I will test it out again.   Posted: 11/26/2020 08:52:42

What a great shot. A moon shot is something I have always wanted to capture. You did a very nice job on the capture and the processing. Great detail and nice color. You have inspired me!   Posted: 11/26/2020 11:01:43
