About the Image(s)

I was walking through the woods near my house and discovered this fox asleep on a sand bank. As I approached he woke up and stared at me for several seconds before he retreated into the brush. Nikon D850 Nikkor 28mm-300mm at 300mm, ISO 2500, 1/100 sec. In post I only cropped, and blurred some distracting light in the background

Wonderful subject to photograph. Love the focus on the eyes and the depth of field blurring of the background.   Posted: 04/01/2019 08:27:07

Good Morning Gary. Great Catch! I know you didn't have much time to react on this one. Your focus on the eyes was great. However, I do have some suggestions. The sharpness could be improved a bit. If you use Photoshop, use the Sharpness slider. Don't be afraid to jack it up. Use the Noise reduction slider below that and raise it to around 30. Go to the Post Crop vignetting and slide to about -8. I would suggest using the highlight slider a little or the Haze filter a little. The object being to make the fox standout from the background a bit. But, the shot is a definite keeper :)) Keep it up!!   Posted: 04/01/2019 09:45:02

He is so adorable. I like the closer crop very much. A slight vignette would focus a bit more on the fox. You might consider darkening the lower front and the whites in the background just a touch. Good going!   Posted: 04/03/2019 09:46:46

I'm jealous. I have a fox on my property in Vermont that I have been wanting to photograph but it seems like he knows when I have my camera and when I don't. Good job being prepared. Nice photo, great focus on the eyes!   Posted: 04/16/2019 12:22:41
