Red Sand Beach, Maui, Honolulu by Quang Phan

April 2021 - Red Sand Beach, Maui, Honolulu

About the Image(s)

I took a trip to Maui, Hawaii, and suddenly found this hidden treasure island when I went hiking. The road to this beach is very dangerous and not so many people go to this beach. This picture I took as Jpeq and post-processed by MS Photo Editor. I only resized the image

Meta Data: 1/1000 sec. f/4.5 21mm, IS0100

To my eye the color in this image really makes the image. The rock formation at the bottom is well placed to lead the viewer's eye to the rocks in the stream.

I believe that the shutter speed has "frozen" the water. This sharpness places the water in competition with the rocks to hold the viewer's eye. Did you try shooting at a slower shutter speed in order to soften the water? It seem to me that a soft Vignette might also help hold the viewer's eye on the structure and beauty of the rocks in the river. Great shot!   Posted: 04/09/2021 19:27:44

What a find! There is very good balance to the image with top right and bottom left, and the leading line of the rocks. Contrasts are just as wonderful with the different water coloration right and left. My only question would be if you focused stacked so the foreground rocks were in focus because the white water just below it draws the viewers eye. I like the foreground shadow at bottom right providing a natural vignette.   Posted: 04/10/2021 18:14:42

Wonderful image. Great colors from the reds to blues. Good exposure too. My only issue is that had you not explained what you saw I would have never known what I was looking at. At first glance I thought it was a dammed river, there was not enough visual information to get my bearings. But that was just me, well done.   Posted: 04/19/2021 13:15:09

This is a picture of very beautiful natural formation. The shot has been taken from top. The flow of sea water from right to the sandy beach crossing the rocks is the attraction. This is an unusual shot. I like everything of the image. Colors are feast of my eyes.
A great shot and thanks for sharing.   Posted: 04/26/2021 10:23:11
