About the Image(s)

This is a sunset photo of the Virgin River Valley in Zion National Park. It was taken early in November 2018. With the goal of adding interest and increasing impact, I layered in a more dynamic sky and, after lightening the shadows, brought out the highlights of yellow leaves on the trees and white flowers on the bushes lining the river. The result was an original image like the numerous photographs taken of the “Watchman.” Camera data: Nikon D750, 16 mm, f/18, 1/320th, ISO = 400.

Thank you Trey. I suppose we shouldn't like our own images, but I like this one, and wish someday soon we will all have the opportunity to return to transcendental places like Zion.   Posted: 10/07/2020 11:32:31

Charles, to my eye you did a fine job with the composition and the post-processing lighting of the image. I feel that the river and the mountains lead the viewer's eye in the center of the image and hold it there.

If anything, and this is small, I think that just a touch more brightness - not much - on the fore ground bushes on the right bank you balance the lighting.

If I had this picture I would find a place for it on the wall in my home. Well done!   Posted: 10/07/2020 12:51:11
