Taken at Lassen National Park, Reflection Lake. Fires had just started a couple days before to bring out the red in teh sun and sky. Shot with Sony A7RIII,with a 17 mm, 1/200 sec at f/9.0, ISO 320.Post Processed in Lightroom. Decreased Highlights, opened the shadows, lowered whites, sight increase in Clarity, Texter and Vigrance. then edited in Topaz Sharpen.

To my eye the composition of this image is well done - I like the placement of the sun at a 1/3 point. I feel that you have done an excellent job with the depth of field and sharpness, catching the details of the logs in the pond in the foreground. I believe that you used a well chosen f-stop to get some rays of the suns but not a starburst effect that really wouldn't go with an image of a fire scene. I think you have donee a good job in post-processing of keeping detail out of the pines as they are just "place holders" here and not the main subject. Well done!   Posted: 09/08/2020 10:44:19

Gary, you have done a lot in post processing to render a lovely image. These high contrast situations are a challenge; however, you brought out the details in the shadow areas and in the reflection. The sky became more defined too. Mother Nature added some bushes at the lower left corner. I wish she didn't do this, but it may not be worth the effort to remove them, if you agree.   Posted: 09/14/2020 10:03:20
