About the Image(s)

Many NY small towns line their main streets with flower baskets in the summer. I originally shot these at mid-day but returned 4 days later to shoot them about 8:00 AM to get low angle light.

You can see from theorigianl the the nearest best had no flowers so ultimately another basket "Replacement Basket" had to be substituted.

I made two HDR's in Photomatix Pro using the Photographic presets. In PS I used the technique (reported in June 2020 PSA Journal) for lifting a selection out of one image and placing into another.

I eliminated background distractions in PS. I then placed the image into DxO Color Efex Pro 4 and used "Reflector Efex" to create Silver light at the angle of the sun at that time of day.

I added a Vignette in On1 Photo Raw and I was done.

What I wanted the viewer's eye to capture was the series of diagonal lines emanating from the corener. The street lights, the baskets. the light bases and the curbs. I used the saturation of the basket flowers to highlight this line over the others.

What great technique you used to end up with a beautiful and colorful image. I like the final result a lot. Very nice composition and I like the linear look.   Posted: 08/08/2020 09:57:16

Gary, you are indeed a master of post-processing. You have some skills I would like to learn. It is quite amazing what you did to create the final image and nudge the viewer. However, in order for the line of baskets to be even more dominate, my eye wants all the concrete, except the sidewalk, deleted and replaced with grass. Another option might be to darken the curbs?   Posted: 08/12/2020 20:45:45
