About the Image(s)

This is an image taken last spring of a creek near Fredericksburg Texas. This is just a simple image that I took while standing on a rock in the middle of the creek. I used a Sony 24-105 lens at 29mm, 1/400 sec at f/7.1 and ISO 400.

I made a few standard adjustments in Lightroom.

I really like your image. I appreciate images that are heavily modified in Photoshop but really like images that are shown "as taken". I think you have done a fine job with the composition and exposure. I like the way the creek leads my eye into the photo.   Posted: 07/06/2020 16:08:47

Scott, from my experience you have done a good job in post-processing of creating the right light - that is, bringing out the shadowed areas so that the full image can be seen.

To my eye it is harder to determine where you wish the viewer's eye to come to rest. What is the fixation point you desired. For me my eye travels left to right from the tree on the left and its reflection over to the strong tree on the right.I am very interested to know where the eye of the creator - you - fixes when you look at the image??   Posted: 07/08/2020 08:21:31

Gary, I think that the point of the image is the water in the creek and the reflections of the trees in the water. I realize that there is a lot going on - maybe too much?   Posted: 07/14/2020 13:14:19

Nature seduces us through the mood she creates. This stream is so welcoming, so calming. However, Mother Nature presents a lot of challenges for composition. I find the images I take of the beautiful Trout streams in Western New York so difficult control the eye of the viewer. Nature, in short, is complex and sometimes messy. Such images score high on mood, but lower on composition.   Posted: 07/13/2020 16:48:41

I like the naturalness of the photo. As with Scott, my eye wonders without a focal point. However, overall, i like the serenity of the photo.   Posted: 07/15/2020 10:34:32

There's so much a like about this image. There is a definite direction from foreground to background, a bowing limb over the top, the reflection which starts the circular eye flow around the image. My suggestion would be to add a vignette as to bring the attention to the center of the image.I would also trim off the right and left sides a bit to further push the viewer into the middle of the image.   Posted: 07/16/2020 09:53:22

Such a peaceful setting , makes me want to go for a walk. Would like to see a black and white version of this also.   Posted: 07/19/2020 15:50:20
